Tomatoes, red, yummy and delicious form a very important ingredient of our day to day food. Growing tomatoes is considered as a very tough job by many. But, in reality it is one of the easily accomplished jobs and a very delightful one too. People may use 1.seeds or 2.seedling or 3.small tomato plants from nurseries to start their tomato growing adventure.
List of steps that give fruitful results:
- Prepare your soil, before hand adding light soil and dig enough holes to plant your tomato plants. Till then you need not wait, seed your tomato plants in small pots and leave them with enough sunlight.
- If seeds are used make sure they are planted in pots with enough space to give them expanse to branch out. Once they start to shoot their leaves transfer them to our prepared land. Bury them deeper to give them strong roots.
- They are lovers of sunlight. So place them in areas of good sunlight. Eight hours of sunlight, gives them good and healthy growth. Lots of water with good drainage, and a little windy area ensures strong stems.
- They are twines, so stake and cage them so that fruits are not easily prone to fungi and other diseases being in contact to the ground.
These are basic steps to start growing tomatoes. But to make certain of better tomatoes, regularly water them to avoid cracking. There will be tender leaves between branches at the crotch, pinch them at early stage because they only suck the plants energy but wont bear any fruits. Thin out leaves to make sunlight reach all the areas of the plant. The bottom leaves close to the ground are easily vulnerable to fungi and diseases. So remove them for healthy plants.
When the fruits start to show up, start adding fertilizers, and also regularly water them. Tomatoes, rich in vitamin content and are highly luscious and palatable when they are allowed to ripe in the wines. And one important thing to be kept in mind always is that homemade tomatoes taste better and are free from various insecticides and pesticides. Proper tomato varieties, and proper gardening and high yield at the end of your hard work will make your neighbors envious. Tomato growing is just a pool of fun. Jump in!!
